York's Tim Hartung and Jess Miller earned bids to NCAA Cross Country National Championships, announced Sunday. Both athletes will look to make history on November 23 in Hanover, Indiana.

Hartung will enter the NCAA’s coming off an impressive NCAA regional race where he broke the 25 minute barrier.  Hartung took 7th overall at the Mideast Regionals, and will now be able to compete in his third Nationals race.  As a junior, Tim was able to take place as the 7thfastest male in Division III and earn his status as an All-American last year (full story here).

Coach LoBianco on his excitement for Tim to reach the national stage once again, “I am excited for Tim to get back to the national stage in Cross Country. After a 7th place finish last year we have high hopes for Tim this year. He recorded his fastest time in the regular season before nationals at regionals Saturday, so he is on the right track to do big things at nationals."

Tim will look to build off his experience on the national stage and make a memorable finish to his York cross country career.  As a senior, 2012 All-American, and a three time NCAA qualifier, his experience will help him tackle his biggest challengers and achieve his highest goals.

Miller will enter the NCAA’s coming off her own impressive NCAA regional race with an 18th place finish.  Miller finished with a time of 22:01 at the Mideast Regionals, which will set her up for her first Nationals race.  Miller will be the first woman to place at the national meet in York College history.

Coach LoBianco on the history setting Miller, “Our plan all year was for Jess to focus on regionals and be All-Region with a shot of going to nationals. She set a 14 second PR Saturday and put herself in contention to be in the top 7 individuals. I am excited that as a junior she is stepping onto the national stage in Cross Country and look for a solid race and necessary experience at nationals this year.”

Jess will look to enter the meet with a strong attitude, but a relaxed demeanor.  Miller will look to continue to carry the flag for the women’s program that is quickly becoming a dominant force in the conference and beyond.

The NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Hanover, Indiana. Full details on the meet can be found here.
