Four CAC men's and women's cross country squads began their 2015 campaigns on Tuesday - Christopher Newport, Mary Washington, Penn State Harrisburg and Southern Virginia. 

CNU and UMW each competed at the CNU XC Opener at the Roslyn Course in Richmond on Tuesday evening. The meet was a relay race that consisted of teams of two runners who each ran a pair of legs in alternating fashion. The first leg for each runner was a 3k, while the second was a 2k.

The CNU men placed second behind only William & Mary in a field of five teams, while UMW took third. The Captains were led by Jeff Dover and Evan Fabish, who teamed up for a time of 30:50.11, which placed them fifth among the collegiate competitors. The Eagles were paced by Chris Markham and Calhoun Stirling, who took seventh in 31:20.64. 

On the women's side, CNU came in fourth in the five-team field after William & Mary, Richmond, and VCU, with UMW in fifth. The CNU duo of Lydia Cromwell and Logan Harrington teamed up for a third-place finish after crossing the line in 36:23.95. Victoria Parent and Emily Knerr led Mary Washington in 17th with a time of 39:02.38. 

Penn State Harrisburg competed at the Light Up the Night Invitational hosted by Dickinson, a non-team scoring event. Derrick Allabaugh paced the Lion men at 18:36.73 in the 5k, good for 50th in the 88-person field, while Ashley Peart finished 57th for the women at 23:14.23. 

The Southern Virginia men and women traveled to the Hampden-Sydney Invitational to take on Hampden-Sydney and Mary Baldwin, respectively. The Knights finished second in both races. Jefferson Chandler (18:40.2) and Rylee McKeon (22:27.1) both placed second individually for the Knights.
