Seven CAC Men's Cross Country Teams Compete Over Labor Day Weekend

Seven CAC men's cross country squads competed this weekend, with five running in their season-opening meets of the 2015 campaign. 

Four teams ran at the Salisbury Fall Classic, led by Salisbury's third place finish with 59 points in the field of 10 teams. The Sea Gulls' top seven runners placed in the top-23 positions, paced by Connor Hesselbirg in sixth place at 26:37. Billy Kirk made the most of his Salisbury debut with a top-10 finish, placing eighth with a time of 26:42.

Marymount took sixth with 171 points at Salisbury. The Saints were led by Collin Chartier, who tabbed a 16th place finish with a time of 27:09.33. 

St. Mary's claimed eighth place with 198 points, led by Aiden Hennessey in 41st place in 28:26.70, while Southern Virginia placed 10th. 

On Friday, Frostburg State and York both competed at the Galen Piper Challenge at Shippensburg. York finished seventh with 199 points followed by Frostburg State in eighth with 249 points. York's Alex Smith covered the course in a time of 20:46, good for an overall finish of 37th. Brad Baker took the Bobcat's top spot, finishing with a time of 21:09 for 53rd place.

Frostburg State also ran at the Westmoreland Invitational on Saturday, highlighted by freshman Robert Romano's record-breaking performance. Romano took the overall race win with a course record after covering the 5K course in 15:54. 

Penn State Harrisburg finished eighth at the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen Invitational. Korey Christian placed the highest with a time of 31:01.
