Christopher Newport and York Men's Cross Country Teams Headed to Nationals; UMW's Gibson Earns Individual Bid

For the first time in CAC history, multiple men's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA National Championship meet as Christopher Newport and York earned spots in the 32-team field. Christopher Newport automatically qualified for nationals with its second-straight South/Southeast Regional title on Saturday, while York earned one of 16 at-large bids into the field.

CNU will be making its third-consecutive NCAA National Championship appearance. The Captains became the first CAC program to qualify for nationals back in 2015, before making a return trip last fall. York will be making its first-ever appearance at the national meet.

The NCAA National Championship is set for next Saturday, Nov. 18 at the North Farm Facility in Elsah, Illinois. The men's race begins at noon EST.

In addition to CNU and York, Mary Washington's Jeff Gibson automatically qualified for the national meet with an ninth-place finish at the South/Southeast Regional.
