York placed five runners in the top-15 to capture its fourth overall CAC men's cross country title on Saturday at Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, Va. The Spartans snapped Christopher Newport's three-year reign atop the conference with the victory. It marked York's first title since 2013. The Spartans won three-straight titles from 2011-13. 

The Spartans totaled 49 points to narrowly edge out Christopher Newport (51 points) by just two points for the win. Southern Virginia took third with 96 points, followed closely by Mary Washington in fourth with 99 points and Salisbury in fifth with 100 points. Frostburg State claimed sixth place with 142 points, followed by St. Mary's (215 points) and Penn State Harrisburg (250 points) in seventh and eighth, respectively. 

Mary Washington junior Jeff Gibson won the individual title, becoming the eighth UMW runner to claim top honors at the CAC meet and first since 2009. Gibson crossed the 8k finish line in 26:06, defeating the second-place finisher by 27 seconds. 

York senior Ray Smith led the way for the team-champion Spartans with a second-place individual mark, finishing in 26:33.9. Spartan senior Matthew Zubrzycki placed eighth followed by classmate Benjamin Linne in 10th. The trio of sophomore Jake O'Neill, sophomore Drew Alansky, and freshman Justyn Smith finished 14th throught 16th, respectively. 

Second-place CNU was paced by senior Joseph Lightbody, who took third place individually. Freshman Clark Edwards (7th place), junior Daniel Cretney (11th place), and junior Cavanaugh McGaw (12th place) also secured strong placings for the Captains. 

Salisbury senior Conner Masteran and Frostburg State senior Robert Romano notched top-five individual finishes to lead their respective squads. Masteran ran to a fourth-place mark, with Romano right behind in fifth for the Bobcats. Salisbury sophomore Mason Kimbell also collected All-CAC honors for SU with a 13th-place finish. 

A pair of Southern Virginia runners captured top-10 finishes, headlined by junior Michael Myers in sixth place. Sophomore Colter May placed ninth for the host Knights.
