Christopher Newport senior outfielder Leah Andrews and freshman designated player/pitcher Patty Maye Ohanian were selected first team All-America Wednesday night by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Ohanian becomes the first Christopher Newport freshman to ever achieve first team All-America status in any sport.

Salisbury senior LeAnne Collins and sophomore Emily Allen have been named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Christopher Newport senior shortstop Rachael Payne was selected the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week on Wednesday, as the Captains moved up to eighth in the new weekly poll from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Payne, an All-American last year as a junior, was also named the Capital Athletic Conference's Player of the Week on Monday after going 15-for-20 at the plate last week for a .750 batting average.
