Salisbury Takes Game One of CAC Softball Championship Against Christopher Newport

Second-seeded Salisbury jumped to a 9-0 lead and held off a Christopher Newport rally for a 9-6 victory over at Captains Park on Friday afternoon in game one of the best-of-three CAC Championship series. The series will resume with game two on Saturday at noon. 

The Sea Gulls scored seven runs in the first two innings and tacked on runs in the top of the third and fourth frames to claim a 9-0 advantage early on. CNU pulled within three with single runs in the fourth and sixth sandwiched by a four-run fifth, but it proved to be too little, too late and Salisbury came away victorious. 

Kristen Yanarella went 4-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Sea Gulls at the plate, while Dakotah Fraley notched three hits and scored three times. Patty Maye Ohanian led CNU with a 3-for-4 performance with two RBIs.
