FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Frostburg State sophomore Katelyn Mehrling and Mary Washington junior Kara Deppe received CAC Softball weekly honors for March 12, 2018.

Frostburg State sophomore Katelyn Mehrling was chosen as the CAC Player of the Week after hitting .750 (9-for-12) in a 4-0 week for the Bobcats. Mehrling totaled five RBIs, three runs scored, three doubles and a home run in wins over SUNY New Paltz, Keuka, Hunter, and Roanoke. She also registered four walks to notch an on-base percentage of .813 to go along with a 1.250 slugging percentage. Her top performance came in an 8-3 win over Keuka, as she was a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Mary Washington junior Kara Deppe was honored as the CAC Pitcher of the Week after going 3-0 in four appearances last week with a 0.78 ERA. Deppe allowed just 10 hits and two runs in 18.0 innings of work. She also totaled 17 strikeouts while walking nine. She threw a complete-game one-hitter in a 10-2 triumph over Randolph, and tossed a two-hitter with eight strikeouts in a 15-2 win over La Roche.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

In the March 7 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top-25 Poll, Christopher Newport is ranked No. 6 and Salisbury is receiving votes ... Freshman Rachel Porchie led Mary Washington in hitting last week in Myrtle Beach, going 11-for-24 (.458) with two doubles and a triple, with eight runs scored and eight RBIs ... In her first three starts of the year, Salisbury senior Rachael Milligan went 2-1 and nearly notched her first career no-hitter. Against Rochester in a 15-1 win, Milligan had not allowed a hit through 4 2/3 innings, but an infield single on a bang-bang play at first base broke up the bid. Freshman Madeira Alexander had at least two hits in five of Salisbury's six games this weekend. She batted .550 for the week, including her first two career home runs and her first career triple ... Southern Virginia sophomore Megan Harmon went 3-1 on the mound last week, with the loss coming in extra innings to Guilford. She also knocked in four RBIs and scored five runs. Heather Terranova led the Knights with five RBIs last week and leads the team with a batting average of .423 this season ... Wesley freshman infielder Bianca Newsom opened the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic going 4-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored, including hitting an inside-the-park three-run home run to left field in the fourth inning in Wesley's 14-5 five inning win over St. Joseph (Conn.). Freshman Juli Neel pitched two perfect innings of shutout relief with three strikeouts in the win.
