Mary Washington's Remer Records Walk-Off Winner in Game One of CAC Softball Tournament Championship Series
Top-seed Mary Washington's Rachel Remer singled in Danielle Newman in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Eagles earned the 5-4 walk-off victory over Christopher Newport in Game 1 of the 2019 CAC Softball Championship Best-of-Three Series on Friday (May 3) in Fredericksburg, Md.
CNU jumped out to a 4-0 lead with four runs in the third inning thanks to a 3-run homer off the bat of Patty Maye Ohanian followed by a sacrifice fly RBI from Caitlin Abernethy to cap the scoring.
Mary Wash responded with a pair of runs in the fourth inning on an RBI single from Rachel Porchie and Daylah Sawyer's sac fly RBI. UMW knotted up the contest at 4-4 after a pair of unearned runs. Remer then came through in the clutch with the game-winning single to right field.
Mary Washington heads into Game 2 on Saturday (May 4) needing one more win to claim the 2019 CAC Softball Championship. Game times are slated for 10 a.m. with the if necessary game scheduled for Noon.
