Six CAC Softball Players Collect NFCA All-Region Honors

Complete NFCA All-Region Teams

Six CAC softball players have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team, announced Wednesday (May 15). CAC champion Christopher Newport led the way with four all-stars, while Salisbury earned two selections.

The All-Region squad is comprised of three 15-player teams in each of the country's eight NCAA regions. CNU was one of 12 schools to have four players chosen, while 21 schools had three selections apiece. Salisbury was one of 49 other schools to put two on the list, and 77 had one player chosen.

Two players earned Mid-Atlantic Region first team honors - Christopher Newport's Patty Maye Ohanian and CAC Player of the Year Kaitlyn Hasty. Ohanian, a sophomore, is a repeat selection from last year, while Hasty was also named CAC Rookie of the Year this season.

Landing on the second team from the CAC were CNU second baseman Grace Wild, the CAC Player of the Year, as well as Salisbury's designated player Jillian Jones. Wild earns All-Region nods for the third consecutive season season.

Third team honorees included CNU's Aubrey Bates and Salisbury's Dakotah Fraley. Bates and Fraley are now three-time All-Region honorees.

All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions. First team All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced the evening of May 22 online at NFCA.org and in person at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet in Tyler, Texas.
