CNU’s Nuckols, SU’s Hill Receive C2C Women's Track and Field Weekly Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 10th week of the 2023-24 track and field season. Christopher Newport's Ellie Nuckols claimed C2C Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors, while Salisbury's Mia Hill earned C2C Women's Field Athlete of the Week acknowledgment.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ellie Nuckols, Christopher Newport

Nuckols registered the top effort in the league this year in the 100-hurdles during the 58th Annual Colonial Relays. On the track, she notched the conference's fastest clocking in the event after crossing the line in 15.38. That ranked first among Division III competitors on Friday and cut over two-tenths of a second off her previous PR. It also stands first in the conference this year by over a full second.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mia Hill, Salisbury

Hill finished fourth overall as the top Division III competitor in the long jump at the George Mason Ebanks Invitational, jumping to a personal best of 5.64m (18-6) - good for the top spot in the C2C and ninth in the nation.

C2C HIGHLIGHTS

Salisbury's Anna Bodmer placed ninth in the 5000m at the George Mason Ebanks Invitational, setting a new outdoor personal record of 17:55.94 in the race… Pratt's Giovanna Lisa won the 3000-meter steeplechase at USMMA's Coach Omeltchenko Invitational with a time of 13:50.98 in her first time running the event… Christopher Newport's Katie Stevens continued to star in a pair of throwing events during the 58th Annual Colonial Relays. On Friday, she led all Division III competitors with a 50.92-meter toss in the hammer throw. That was the second-best performance of her career, trailing only her league-record mark of 52.82 meters from last week. Coupled with her work in her previous appearance, she became the first student-athlete in the conference to register a pair of 50-meter efforts in the same season in over a decade. On Saturday, she came back with a 40.77-meter heave in the discus. That also marked the second-longest throw of her career, falling less than two-feet short of her PR from last week… Pratt's Hannah Kim was the top point collector for Pratt at USMMA's Coach Omeltchenko Invitational leading Pratt to an eighth-place finish. She won the discus in 34.16 meters and finished third in the shot put with a toss of 10.44 meters.
