CNU’s Nuckols and Stevens Sweep C2C Women's Track and Field Weekly Honors

The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) has announced its weekly awards following the 12th week of the 2023-24 track and field season. Christopher Newport's Ellie Nuckols earned C2C Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors, while the Captains Katie Stevens picked up C2C Women's Field Athlete of the Week acclaim.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ellie Nuckols, Christopher Newport

Ellie Nuckols climbed into the top-50 on the national charts in the heptathlon during the New Captains Classic over the weekend. Making her debut in the combined event, she registered a score of 4,141, which placed her 38th on the NCAA leaderboard and marked the fourth-highest total in program history. Among her work during the heptathlon, she posted the top effort in five of the seven disciplines, including all three track events. Her time of 15.52 in the 100-hurdles was the second-fastest in the league this year, trailing only her own 15.38 mark set earlier this month.  Additionally, she established PRs in both the 200 (26.51) and 800 (2:27.75). Those clocking's also place her in the top-10 on the league charts this year.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Katie Stevens, Christopher Newport

Katie Stevens posted the top effort in the league this year in two events during the New Captains Classic over the weekend. On Saturday, she netted a new personal-best in the discus with a 43.69-meter launch. That tacked on four inches to her previous PR and marked the second-longest throw in school history, falling just 10 inches shy of the program standard. It also moved her to 18th on the national charts this year. Meanwhile, on Friday, she notched a 30.23-meter heave in the javelin. That added over six feet to her previous PR, moved her to ninth on the school's all-time performance list, and topped the second-best throw in the league this year by 17 feet.
