Mary Washington Claims Second CAC Title in Past Three Seasons with 53-42 Victory over Marymount (Va.)

#1 seeded Mary Washington captured their second conference championship in the past three seasons with a 53-42 victory over #2 seeded Marymount (Va.) on Saturday evening in the 2007 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) women’s basketball tournament final. The Eagles avenged last season’s 62-55 tournament final home loss to the Saints, preventing back-to-back titles for Marymount (Va.). The win was the 22nd consecutive victory for the Eagles who also received the conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA tournament as a result of the victory. Mary Washington will now host Notre Dame (Md.) in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday, March 2, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
