Kathleen Brown and Heather Leahy each scored 10 points, combined for 15 rebounds and led a stellar defensive effort to lead Marymount to a 51-34 CAC women's basketball victory at Wesley, giving Saints veteran mentor Bill Finney his 500th career coaching victory.

Finney, who also serves as the Marymount Director of Athletics, improved his 25-year record as a collegiate head coach to 500-180 (73.5%).  Marymount (18-2, 10-1), which moved into the top 25 in the D3hoops.com poll this week, has won six in a row and 11 of its last 12 games.

In the 17 years of the Capital Athletic Conference, which Finney helped found, MU has taken 10 championship titles.  The Saints have advanced to the post-season NCAA tournament 13 times where they have advanced to one Final Four, two Elite Eights, and six additional Sweet 16s. 

Going into this season, Finney was ranked #12 all-time in number of wins among NCAA Division III women's basketball coaches.  He is a four-time conference Coach of the Year and a regional Coach of the Year. 

His teams have won two national scoring titles, averaging 92.4 points per game in 1993 - a season that included five consecutive games over 100 points, which is an NCAA Division III record and in 1994 when the team averaged 89.4 points a contest.

Wednesday, Marymount maintained a firm hold on second place in the CAC by holding host Wesley to less than 20 points in both halves.  Wesley connected on just 13-of-62 from the field (21%), including just 3-of-18 long-range shots (18%).  The Saints also held a 51-45 rebounding advantage.

Colleen Thomas led both teams with 17 points and 11 rebounds for the fifth-place Wolverines (10-10, 6-5 CAC).
