St. Mary’s sophomore guard Steph Saint-Aubin (Bowie, Md./Elizabethtown Seton) and York junior guard Keli Ward (Nottingham, Pa./Oxford) are the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week for Feb. 25, 2008, after leading their teams to perfect weeks, which earned a home game in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round of the 2008 CAC playoffs.

York junior guard AMANDA ANDREWS (Fallston, Md./Fallston) is the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 18, 2008, after her career-best scoring performance helped the Spartans snap a three-game losing streak and stay in the chase for a home game in the first round of the upcoming CAC playoffs. Andrews threw nailed a career-best seven three-point goals on 10 attempts (70%) and finished with a career-best 25 points in YCP’s lone game of the week, a convincing victory over Wesley. The Spartans have a one-half game lead over Wesley and a one-game advantage over Salisbury heading into the final week of the seas for the fourth home game in the CAC quarterfinals.

St. Mary’s junior forward ALLIE SCOTT (Laurel, Md./Atholton) is the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 11, 2008, after leading the Seahawks to road wins at Hood and York, lifting her team into third place in the CAC heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. Scott averaged 18.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games, including a 20-point, six-rebound performance in an eight point win at York. Scott, who was the CAC Co-Player of the Week on Dec. 17, 2007, earns the weekly honor for the second time this season.

It’s unusual for a player from an 0-2 team to earn the conference’s weekly award, but Villa Julie senior forward/center TANISHA FOSTER (Baltimore, Md./St. Frances Academy) is the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 4, 2008, after averaging 20.5 points and 14.0 rebounds in a pair stellar individual performances. Against third-place York, Foster totaled 16 points and collected an equal number of rebounds in an 11-point setback. In a seven-point loss Saturday against fourth-place Wesley, Foster connected on 11-of-16 field goal attempts on the way to 25 points and hauled in 12 boards for her second double-double of the week and sixth in the last seven games.

Marymount sophomore guard TERELL WHITE (Ashburn, VA/Stone Bridge) is the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 28, 2008, after contributing a career-high 26 points and adding seven rebounds, three assists in 40 minutes of a tough 76-69 road win at York to start a 2-0 week for the Saints. She drained a career-best 12-for-13 from the line against YCP. She also chipped in career-highs of six steals and seven assists in just 19 minutes against Gallaudet.

Mary Washington senior center LIZ HICKEY (Virginia Beach, VA/Bishop Sullivan) is the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 21, 2008, after posting a pair of double-doubles and leading the Eagles to a victory in the battle for first place against Marymount. Hickey had 11 points, 10 rebounds and a pair of blocks as UMW took over sole possession of first place with a road win at Marymount. She also had 12 points, 11 boards and three blocks in 23 minutes, her third-straight double-double, and added three blocks in 23 minutes for the fifth-ranked Eagles at Wesley. It is Hickey’s third CAC Player of the Week award this season.

Salisbury Jr. G MONICA MERKEL is the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 13, 2008, after scoring more than 20 points in two CAC games for the Sea Gulls. Merkel tallied 23 scores, ripped down six rebounds, dished out four assists, registered three steals and blocked a shot in SU’s win over Gallaudet. Earlier in the week, the Walkersville, Md., native had 21 points and eight boards in a two-point loss vs. Wesley.
