Gallaudet junior guard EASTER FAAFITI (Pittsburg, Calif./Pittsburg) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after leading the Bison to three wins in four games and the team’s first CAC playoff berth in three years. Faafiti had double-doubles in both CAC contests as poured in a career-high 34 points and added 12 rebounds against York, then helped the Bison to a one-point victory over St. Mary’s with 28 points and 10 rebounds. For the week, Faafiti averaged 26.5 points and 10.3 rebounds.

York junior guard APRIL SPARKMAN (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in two games for the Spartans. Sparkman tallied 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists in Monday’s victory over Salisbury, keeping the Spartans’ playoff hopes alive. She then posted a double-double of 18 points and 11 caroms in YCP’s setback vs. CAC-leading Mary Washington.

Wesley junior forward ANGIE OWENS (Seaford, Del./Seaford) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging averaging 27 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.0 blocked shots in a pair of victories last week. Owens knocked down 10 of 14 shots on the way to scoring 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds against Hood. The next night, she followed up with a career-high 31 points on a 13-for-16 shooting performance, controlling 12 boards and rejecting eight shots against Gwynedd-Mercy. It was Wesley’s first 30-point performance in three years and the most blocked shots in a game in more than a decade. For the week, she hit 60% from three-point range (3-for-5) and all five of her free throws.

St. Mary’s senior guard STEPHANIE SAINT-AUBIN (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 28 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 steals in two conference games, including a win Saturday that kept the Seahawks in strong position for a CAC playoff berth. She was 18-for-26 from the field (69%) and 20-for-25 from the line (80%) in the two contests. Her best game was a 30-point, 12-rebounding and six steal outing in a two-point road win at Stevenson that kept SMC in fifth place with three weeks left in the regular season.

Wesley junior guard CORY BOYD (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Wolverines to three wins last week, including an overtime victory over Stevenson and a two-point win over Gallaudet, and lifting the team into sole possession of third place in the conference standings. Boyd averaged 15 points, 3.5 rebounds, six assists, four steals and shot 48% from the field as Wesley extended its winning streak to eight games, the second-longest win streak in the conference this season.

Mary Washington sophomore guard KATIE WIMMER (Vienna, Va./Madison) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Eagles to three wins this week, including decisions over Randolph-Macon, which was nationally-ranked earlier this year, and sixth-ranked Marymount in the battle for first place in the CAC. Wimmer averaged 16.3 points and 5.7 rebounds and was the team’s top scorer in two of the three wins. UMW took over first place in the CAC, knocking off the previously undefeated Saints, as Wimmer had a team-best 18 points and five rebounds.

Gallaudet junior center EASTER FAAFITI (Pittsburg, Calif./Pittsburg) and Wesley junior forward ANGIE OWENS (Seaford, Del./Seaford) were named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Faafiti is honored for the third time this season after averaging 18 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games last week. She netted 23 points, six boards, four steals and two assists as the Bison snapped a 22-game losing streak vs. Salisbury, then contributed 13 points, 13 rebounds and two steals in a loss at Mary Washington in a showdown for second place. Owens led Wesley to three wins, including a pair of conference wins that put the Wolverines back into the CAC playoff picture. Owens averaged 17.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 3.3 blocks per game while shooting 63% from the floor (including 5-of-6 from three-point range) in the three wins.

Marymount senior forward KATHLEEN BROWN (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Stevenson junior guard JaQUELIA CONLEY (Columbia, Md./Montrose Christian) were named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Brown is the women’s honoree for the second-straight week after being named the MVP of the Marymount Holiday Classic, dropping in 21 points and grabbing 11 caroms in the championship game win over Montclair State. In three games over the holidays, Brown averaged 17.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and shot 69.6% from the field and 68.1% from the line while playing 26 minutes per contest. Conley led Stevenson to a pair of wins in three outings, including a CAC victory over Hood. She registered career-highs for points in each game, including a 31-point explosion in Sunday’s victory vs. Carnegie Mellon. Conley averaged 23.7 points while dropping in 27-of-48 field goals (56.3%), including 10-for-17 from three-point range (58.8%) and 7-of-9 from the free throw line (77.8%).

Marymount senior forward KATHLEEN BROWN (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) was named the CAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after scoring 33 points, grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out three assists in a pair of victories. The Saints’ All-American post player, playing just her second and third games of the season after returning from an injury, connected on 60% of her field goal attempts, 90% from the line and had no turnovers on the way to earning Marymount’s berth on the Cruzin’ Classic All-Tournament team that represented 14 NCAA Division II and III squads.

Gallaudet junior center EASTER FAAFITI (Pittsburg, Calif./Pittsburg) and Salisbury senior forward KYLIE HALL (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) were named the CAC Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Faafiti averaged 16.5 points, 10 rebounds and 9.5 steals in a pair of victories last week, including a 26-point win at York that snapped a 19-game slide against the Spartans dating back to 2000. Faafiti had 16 points, nine boards, seven thefts, two assists and a blocked shot at YCP. Saturday, Faafiti recorded a triple-double with 17 points, 11 caroms and 12 steals in a non-conference win over CCNY. She has five double-doubles (or better) in seven games this season. Hall posted a pair of double-doubles for the Sea Gulls this week, averaging 19.5 points and 15.5 rebounds. Hall poured in a season-high 23 scores and snared 15 caroms, including nine off the offensive glass, in a CAC win against St. Mary’s. Saturday, Hall followed up with a 16-point, 16-rebound non-conference outing at Goucher for her sixth double-double in seven contests this season,

Gallaudet junior center EASTER FAAFITI (Pittsburg, Calif./Pittsburg) was named the CAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double performance in leading the Bison to its first victory in CAC play since 2005. Faafiti drained 9-of-11 field goal attempts in registering her fourth double-double of the season while adding two steals and an assist for GU, which snapped a 63-game losing streak against CAC rivals.

Gallaudet junior guard BRITTAINY PAYNE (Pine Hill, N.J./New Jersey School for the Deaf) and St. Mary’s senior guard STEPHANIE SAINT-AUBIN (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) were named the CAC Women’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week. Payne averaged 10 points, 14 rebounds, 2.7 blocks, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals in three games as the Bison won their first two games of the season and advanced to the championship game of their tournament. Saint-Aubin averaged 18.5 points in two games for St. Mary’s, including a season-best 27 points in Saturday’s victory over Shenandoah. Saint-Aubin, who drained 13-of-22 field goal attempts, also had a season-best seven steals against the Hornets as the Seahawks registered their first win of the season.

York junior guard APRIL SPARKMAN (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) was named the CAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after recording two double-doubles in three games this week, including a pair of performances over 20 points. Sparkman, one of four CAC players to be named MVP of a tournament this weekend, dropped in 21 markers in a mid-week showdown at Rowan. Over the weekend, she fired home 40 points and grabbed 29 rebounds in a tournament at Messiah, including a 25-point, 14-rebound outing in an overtime victory over Washington (Md.) in the title contest.

Wesley junior forward ANGIE OWENS (Seaford, Del./Seaford) was named the first CAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the 2009-10 season after scoring 16 points and grabbing 19 rebounds in the Wolverines’ season-opening come-from-behind victory at Catholic. Owens, who also contributed a blocked shot and a pair of three-point shots, totaled 10 points and 12 boards in the second half after Wesley trailed at halftime but rallied for a 15-point win.
