Marymount Senior Guard Katelyn Fischer Named D3hoops.com Third-Team Women's Basketball All-American
Marymount University women’s basketball standout Katelyn
Fischer added yet another All-America accolade to her
résumé with her selection as a D3Hoops.com Third Team All-American. Fischer
picks up her second All-America nod of the year after being named
Honorable Mention All-America by the Women’s Basketball
Coaches Association.
Fischer (Reisterstown, Md. / Seton Keough HS) was named the
D3Hoops.com Atlantic Region Player of the Year this season and
tabbed the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the
second year in a row. She was also selected as one of the 11
finalists for the prestigious Jostens Trophy, awarded to the top
Division III men’s and women’s basketball player in the
nation.
Fischer led the Saints to a 24-5 record, their 12th Capital
Athletic Conference championship and 17th appearance in the NCAA
Division III Tournament. She averaged 16.4 points, 5.3
assists, 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game while shooting at a
46.7 percent clip from the floor. She was also one of the national
leaders in three-point shooting at 42 percent.
In the classroom, Fischer was named First Team Capital One/CoSIDA
Academic All-America, the first Marymount player to achieve the
feat. A business major, she owns a stellar 3.97 grade point average
and was named the Marymount Scholar-Athlete of the Year as a
junior, CAC All-Academic and VaSID Academic All-State.
