YORK, Pa. -- Marymount sophomore Nicole Viscuso was honored as the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 4, 2016.

Marymount sophomore Nicole Viscuso was honored as the CAC Player of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week in CAC action for the Saints. Viscuso opened the week with a career-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds in a win over St. Mary's last Wednesday. Against Wesley on Saturday, she again set a new career high with 26 points and added 11 rebounds. For the week, Viscuso shot 65.6% (21-of-32) from the floor, 100% (5-of-5) from the free throw line and averaged a steal and a block per game.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All 10 CAC teams returned to conference action last weekend ... Marymount, Salisbury and York remain unbeaten in CAC play at 4-0 ... In the WBCA/USA TODAY Dec. 15 Coaches' Poll, York (8), Salisbury (2) and Mary Washington (2) each received votes ... York (19), Salisbury (10) and Mary Washington (3) also received votes in the D3hoops.com Week 3 rankings ... Christopher Newport went 3-0 last week, capturing the title at the Juniata Holiday Tournament with wins over Penn State Altoona and Juniata, before defeating Southern Virginia in CAC action. Devon Byrd matched career-highs in the title game win over Juniata with 21 points and nine rebounds and was named Tournament MVP. Byrd was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Makenzie Fancher ... Junior Brianne Comden led Mary Washington with 16 points in 20 minutes of play in the Eagles' only action over the holiday break, a 74-24 win at Frostburg State on Saturday. Comden made 7-of-11 shots. She leads the Eagles with 14.3 PPG on the season, shooting 55.2% from the field ... Marymount's Nicole Viscuso leads the CAC in scoring average with 15.2 points per game and ranks sixth in rebounds with 8.5 per game ... Josephine Noonan had stellar performances in Salisbury's last three games, averaging 13.7 points and 7.7 rebounds during the span ... Tiyanna Gibbs led Wesley in its loss to Marymount, totaling 16 points, five rebounds and four steals. Gibbs leads the Wolverines in scoring with 13.6 points per game this season ... York suffered its first loss on Tuesday, dropping a two-point game at Lycoming as the Warriors got the winning bucket with 9.2 seconds left in regulation. Junior Sarah Shearer earned All-Tournament team honors for the Spartans, the first time she has made an all-tournament team in her career. Sam Hruz blocked a school-record eight shots in the win over Penn State Harrisburg. Hruz had shared the previous record of seven with former Spartan great Kristen Haley.
