YORK, Pa. -- York junior Sam Hruz was tabbed as the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 23, 2015.

York junior Sam Hruz was tabbed as the CAC Player of the Week after leading the Spartans to a 3-0 week including their fourth straight Coaches vs. Cancer Classic title. Hruz earned Tournament MVP honors following York's 74-69 overtime victory over McDaniel in Sunday's championship game. She began the week with a career-high 23 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks in a win over Franklin & Marshall. She followed that with 16 points, a season-high 12 rebounds and three steals in the CVC seminal win over Newbury, before capping the week with a team-high 18 points, seven boards, six assists, three steals and a block against McDaniel. For the week, Hruz averaged 19.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.7 steals and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 53.1% (17-for-32) from the floor, 60% (6-for-10) from three, and 81% (17-for-21) from the free throw line.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury received 70 votes in the D3hoops.com Preseason National Rankings and secured six votes in the WBCA/USA TODAY Preseason Coaches' Poll. Mary Washington received 32 votes in the D3hoops.com poll ... Christopher Newport and York improved to 4-0 last week, while Mary Washington and Salisbury also remained unblemished at 3-0 on the year ... Christopher Newport's Sam Porter and Anitra Thomas were named to the Jean Edge Classic All-Tournament Team. Porter averaged 10.0 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game, including a career-high eight steals against Ferrum. Thomas shot 75% (12-of-16), including 7-of-9 from long range this week, setting a new career high with 16 points against Bridgewater.  Defense shined for the Captains all week, forcing 101 turnovers in three games ... Frostburg State's Kirsten Rayner posted 53 points in four games for the Bobcats and earned all-tournament honors at the 13th Annual Jim Crawley Tournament ... Junior Brianne Comden led Mary Washington to an undefeated week, averaging 13.0 PPG and 7.3 rebounds per contest in less than 19 per minutes per contest, as the Eagles gained three lopsided wins. She scored 16 points and six rebounds in 19 minutes in a 67-48 win at Lynchburg, scored 12 points and had 11 rebounds in 20 minutes in a 73-32 win over Randolph, and added 11 points and five boards in an 80-48 win over Meredith ... Marymount went 2-1 last week, falling to Messiah in the title game of the Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament. Kievanna Lacey notched her 1,000th career point, averaging 18.3 points, 3.0 steals and 2.7 assists per game and earned a spot on the all-tournament team ... Brittany Ulrich helped Penn State Harrisburg to a 2-1 week that included winning the Road Runner Tip-off tournament this past weekend. She was named the Tournament MVP for her efforts ... St. Mary's Nina Haller collected her second double-double of the season in helping the Seahawks to their second win of the year with a season-high 18 points and career-high 15 rebounds in a 68-56 victory over Randolph ... Lauren Rothfeld had a strong week for Salisbury, leading the Sea Gulls to an undefeated week of action, including winning the Optimist Classic championship. Rothfeld posted her first career double-double on Friday with 19 points and 10 boards in a 71-68 overtime triumph over Methodist. In the championship game of the tournament, Rothfeld recorded her second-straight double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Sea Gulls to a 70-52 victory over Marywood ... Wesley opened its season with a victory over Southern Virginia and then took to the road to participate in the Cave Classic hosted by Bridgewater State, falling to Colby and Bridgewater State. Brionna Johnson averaged 13.7 points per game and 13.7 rebounds per game, with double-doubles in two of three contests.
