The top two teams in CAC women's basketball all season long - Marymount and Christopher Newport - will clash for the CAC Championship on Saturday after both posting convincing home wins in the semifinals on Thursday evening. Top-seeded Marymount won a defensive battle over fourth-seeded Mary Washington, 50-31, while second-seeded Christopher Newport raced past third-seeded York 93-69. 

Marymount (23-3) and Christopher Newport (23-3) will face off in the championship game for the first time ever, with tip-off set for 5 p.m. in Arlington, Va. CNU, ranked No. 17 by both the WBCA and D3hoops.com, is seeking its second-straight CAC title. Marymount, ranked No. 20 by the WBCA and No. 19 by D3hoops, will host the title game for the second time in the last three seasons and is looking for its first conference title since the 2012-13 campaign. 

In Newport News, CNU jumped out to a commanding 25-10 lead after the first quarter and never looked back en route to a high-scoring 93-69 victory over the visiting Spartans. As usual, a well-balanced scoring attack paced the Captains with five players in double figures, led by 16 points and six rebounds from Micah Maloney. Sam Porter added 13 points and six boards, Makeda Wright scored 13 points, and Zhara Tannor posted seven points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals for the Captains. Katie Wagner led York with 16 points and seven rebounds, while Morgan Kuehne notched 15 points and seven boards in the defeat. 

In Arlington, Marymount clamped down defensively in the first half, holding Mary Washington to 17.6% shooting and nine points in the first half en route to a 26-9 edge at the intermission. The Saints were led Leah Hurst, who tallied a game-high 19 points along with four rebounds, three steals and two assists. Gabriella Haddad contributed 13 points and eight boards for the Saints in the victory. Jordan Pamlanye led UMW with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
