Senior Leah Hurst's game-winner with 0.3 seconds remaining gave the Marymount women's basketball team its first lead of the game and the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference championship as the No. 20 Saints rallied for a 61-60 win over No. 17 Christopher Newport Saturday at Verizon Sports Arena.

The win gives Marymount (24-3) its 13th CAC championship and first since 2013. It also gives the Saints the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship, marking the program's 20th appearance and third-straight after advancing to the Sweet 16 a year ago. Teh Captains (23-4) must now wait for Monday's NCAA selection show on NCAA.com at 2:30 p.m. to find out their postseason fate. 

Hurst finished with five points, seven rebounds and a career-high 10 assists, equaling the mark she set against Penn State Harrisburg on Jan. 13, 2016. Senior Nicole Viscuso totaled 15 points and 10 rebounds while sophomore Gabriella Haddad had 14 points. 

CNU was led by Anitra Thomas's 13 points off the bench, while Makenzie Fancher added 12 points and Sam Porter contributed seven points and 10 rebounds in the defeat for the Captains. 

The Captains (23-4) led for almost the entire game, 38:36, and it was tied for 1:23. Marymount officially held the lead for 0:01, the amount of time from Hurst's game-winner until the final buzzer.

The Saints trailed by as many as 13 with 4:45 remaining in the third quarter, 44-31, following a three-pointer by Anitra Thomas before the Captains held a 51-40 advantage after three.

Marymount began the fourth with a 14-3 run, tying the game at 54-54 with 6:16 left on a three-pointer by leading scorer, sophomore Regan Lohr. Lohr, who came in averaging 14.1 points, was limited to just 16 minutes after picking up two fouls in the game's first 42 seconds.

With the game tied for just the second time, Christopher Newport quickly answered with a three-pointer by Makenzie Fancher just 25 seconds later to put the Captains back up by three. They would extend that lead to five, 60-55, on another three-pointer by Fancher with 1:10 to play.

The Saints pulled within one with 19 seconds remaining following a jumper by Haddad and two free throws by Lohr. With just two team fouls, Marymount needed to foul to stop the clock and force Christopher Newport to make free throws to seal the win. However, after inbounding the ball with 10 seconds remaining, the Captains' Sam Porter lost the ball out of bounds after pressure along the sideline from Viscuso.
