D3hoops.com Middle-Atlantic Region Team

Marymount senior guard Leah Hurst and Christopher Newport senior forward Sam Porter were each named to the D3hoops.com All-Middle-Atlantic First Team, while Southern Virginia freshman Katie Garrish was selected as the region's Rookie of the Year, the organization announced on Tuesday. 

Hurst, the CAC Player of the Year, earns All-Region honors for the first time in her career. She was a All-CAC First Team pick for the second-straight season in 2017-18 with averages of 10.6 points, 5.6 assists and 2.9 steals per contest. She led the CAC in both assists and steals for the second-straight year. Her senior season saw her eclipse the 1,000-point threshold and 500-assist mark, as she finished with 1,048 and 507, respectively. She also finished with 481 rebounds and 296 steals to become one of the most well-rounded players for the Saints in program history. 

Porter was named to the All-Region for the second year in a row, becoming the fifth player in CNU history to earn multiple All-Region selections. This season, the senior forward missed eight games due to a broken hand in January, but still managed to finish the year among the league leaders in several statistical categories. She led the team in scoring with 9.9 points per game, and ranked third in rebounding with 4.5 rebounds per game. She finished her career ranked third in CNU lore in steals (323) and fourth in steals per game. Among active players at all three NCAA levels, Porter was one of only 19 players to grab 300 steals in her career, and ranked fifth among Division III players. Porter became the program's 27th 1000-point scorer earlier this season and finished her career with 1,163 points in her career. She is the first player in program history to register at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 300 steals in her career and becomes just the third in Capital Athletic Conference history to reach all three marks (Amy Campion '03 from Salisbury and Crystal Washington '94 from Marymount). 

Garrish, who became the first player in program history to earn CAC Rookie of the Year honors a few weeks ago, helped the Knights to a 12-12 record, the highest win total the program has had since the 2012-13 season. Garrish finished second in the CAC in points per game with 15.0, and led the conference in the rebounds per game at 11.2 and blocks per game at 3.1.
