Frostburg State Clinches Final Playoff Spot; CAC Tournament Field Set

Frostburg State clinched the sixth and final spot in the CAC Tournament with a 71-63 victory over Southern Virginia on Wednesday, while Christopher Newport and Marymount remained tied atop the conference standings on the second-to-last day of the regular season. York and Salisbury were also victorious in Wednesday's CAC women's basketball action.

With its eight-point victory at Southern Virginia, Frostburg State secured a playoff spot for the second straight year, improving to 7-10 in CAC play. The Bobcats will travel to the No. 3 seed in next Tuesday's first round.

Salisbury (9-8), which clinched a playoff spot last Saturday, locked up the No. 5 seed with a 62-50 road win at Wesley. The Sea Gulls will travel to the No. 4 seed in the first round.

The hunt for the No. 1 seed and homecourt advantage throughout the CAC postseason remained deadlocked following Wednesday's action, as 11th-ranked Christopher Newport (16-1) and 22nd-ranked Marymount (16-1) both posted road wins. CNU downed Mary Washington 80-53, while Marymount defeated Penn State Harrisburg 61-43. Marymount travels to Mary Washington on Saturday for a 1 p.m. tip, with CNU set to host York at 6 p.m. If both teams win on Saturday, a coin flip will determine who receives the No. 1 seed.

York (12-4) and Mary Washington (12-4) are tied for third place entering Saturday's regular season finales. Both the Spartans and Eagles have already secured first-round home contests next Tuesday as the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. Saturday's results will dictate which side of the bracket the two teams end up on.
