Southern Virginia's Garrish, CNU's Fan & Broderick Receive Top CAC Women's Basketball Honors

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Southern Virginia sophomore Katie Garrish received top conference honors as the CAC Player of the Year to highlight the 2019 All-CAC Women's Basketball Team. Christopher Newport's Sondra Fan collected CAC Rookie of the Year honors, while Bill Broderick was selected "Bill Finney" CAC Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons after leading the Captains to the outright conference regular season title. 

Garrish, who earned 2017 CAC Rookie of the Year and second team accolades, averaged 18.0 points and 13.5 rebounds in the regular season to lead SVU to a 10-4 league record and the No. 2 seed in the league tournament. Garrish is joined by her classmate sophomore Savanna Christensen who was named to the second team.

CNU led the way with a pair of first team selections as senior forward Jessica Daguilh and junior guard Kiana Kirkland received all-conference recognition for the first time in their careers. Fan, the CAC Rookie of the Year, averaged 10.6 points for contest this season.

Frostburg State junior guard Victoria Diggs garnered first team honors for the second straight season and is joined by her teammate junior forward Amanda Emory, a second team selection.

York senior forward Katie McGowan improved this season to earn first team distinction after collecting second team laurels in 2018. The Spartans put a pair of standouts on the All-CAC teams as sophomore guard Kayla Ferris achieved second team status. Penn State Harrisburg senior guard Shanique Mattis completed the All-CAC First Team contingent.

Mary Washington landed two second team selections in senior guard Jordan Pamlanye and junior guard Emily Thompson, while St. Mary's junior forward Gina Seifert rounded out the second team honorees.
