FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Southern Virginia sophomore forward Katie Garrish was named Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 10, 2018.

Southern Virginia sophomore forward Katie Garrish tallied a career-high 30 points in a home win against Shenandoah and career-high 19 rebounds against Eastern Mennonite. She recorded her fifth double-double of the season. Garrish averaged 18.7 points and 13.3 rebounds in a 3-0 week. She anchored the defense with four steals per game and 3.5 blocks per game to help the Knights go undefeated for the week and stay on a current seven-game win streak.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport's Jessica Foster scored a game-high 21 points on the road at NC Wesleyan College, helping the nationally-ranked Captains win 100-61 ... knocked down 5 three-pointers and shot 7-10 from the field in just 14 minutes of action ... added 3 rebounds and 1 assist ... first rookie to hit 5 three's in a game since 2015-16 season and first freshman to score 20+ pts in a game since 15-16 as well...Frostburg's Sydney Stotler totaled 17 points and 16 rebounds for Frostburg last week in two wins. She capped the week with a double-double 14 points and 14 rebounds in a 61-36 thrashing of Catholic...Salisbury's Kaylyn French helped lead Salisbury to wins over Elizabethtown and Wesley College while averaging 13.7 points across three games last week. In the road win over Elizabethtown on Friday night, French recorded her first double-double of the season with 20 points and 10 rebounds. She shot 48.5 percent from the floor and 75 percent from the stripe, totaling 41 points for the week...York's Kayla Ferris led the Spartans to a pair of wins as York has now won three straight. On Wednesday night, Ferris led the Spartans to a home win over Juniata. She poured in a career-high 21 points as she was 7-for-9 from the floor including 2-for-4 from three and 5-for-6 from the line. Ferris grabbed two rebounds, dished out three assists while she grabbed seven steals and had one blocked shot. Ferris followed that with 12 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and a steal. She was 5-for-8 from the floor, 2-for-4 from three while she did not attempt a free throw. For the week, Ferris averaged 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 4.0 steals, and 0.5 blocked shots per game. She shot 70.6% from the floor, 50% from three and 83.3% from the line.
