Christopher Newport Captures Title at First-Ever CAC Women's Golf Championship

Behind a stellar performance from Erica Whitehouse and the top three individual placings, Christopher Newport ran away with the first-ever CAC Women's Golf Championship at Bay Creek Golf Course in Cape Charles, Va. The Captains totaled 993 strokes throughout the 54-hole event on the Palmer Course to take home the trophy. 

York finished second in the three-team field with 1,134 strokes, followed by Southern Virginia in third place at 1,311. 

Whitehouse provided the story of the tournament, reeling off a three-day total of 220 with consistent rounds of 73-73-74 to take the individual title by 26 strokes. CNU secured the top three individual placings, with Cameron Cook in second place (246) and Katie Thome in third place (251) for the Captains. 

York's Emma Harding led the Spartans with a fourth-place finish at 276 strokes, while CNU's Abbey Forde (279) and Harper Lurie (281) rounded out the top six. 

Southern Virginia was paced by Bailey Rusick in seventh place with a three-day total of 283.
