Villa Julie sophomore midfielder LAUREN ZEGOWITZ (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for April 21, 2008, after leading her team to an upset victory at York Sunday in the opening round of the CAC playoffs. Zegowitz contributed five points on three goals and two assists, as well as five ground balls, three draw controls and four caused turnovers as VJ advanced to the CAC semifinals.

St. Mary’s junior attack EMILY NORRIS (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for April 14, 2008, after recording career-highs of five goals, three assists and eight points as the Seahawks moved into a tie for second place and handing Mary Washington its first CAC loss of the season. Norris was also second on the team with three draw controls.

Salisbury junior midfield JESSICA CHMIELEWSKI (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for April 6, 2008, after scoring career-highs of six goals and 10 points as the top-ranked Sea Gulls went on the road and held off the challenge and handed St. Mary’s its first CAC setback of the season. Chmielewski, who was the March 31 CAC Co-Player of the Week, also had two points in a mid-week triumph over Ursinus.

For the second-straight week, Salisbury senior attack SUE ACKERMANN (Sykesville, Md./Liberty) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after scoring 10 goals and six assists (16 points) in two victories. She keyed a triumph over 8th-ranked Bowdoin with six goals and two assists, then added a four goal, four assist performance over Roanoke.

Salisbury senior attack SUE ACKERMANN (Sykesville, Md./Liberty) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for March 17, 2008, after scoring 11 goals and dishing out 11 assists in three contests last week as the second-ranked Sea Gulls remained undefeated, including a pair of CAC wins. Ackermann’s biggest game was a career-high 12 points on seven goals and five assists as SU stopped 15th-ranked Cortland State, 22-9.

St. Mary’s junior midfielder LAUREN CARRIER (Crownsville, Md./Old Mill) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for March 10, 2008, after scoring three goals, including the game-winner off a free shot with :07 left in the game, to lift the Seahawks to a 13-12 win over Va. Wesleyan Saturday. In two matches, including a CAC win over Hood, Carrier contributed eight goals and three assists (11 points) for SMC.
