Salisbury's Beth Rhodey Selected As The CAC Women's Lacrosse Player Of The Week

Salisbury senior midfielder BETH RHODEY (Fallston, Md./Notre Dame Prep) was named the CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after after scoring four goals and adding an assist in leading the top-ranked Sea Gulls to an 18-12 victory at Mary Washington in the battle for first place and the top seed in the 2010 CAC Tournament. Her second goal of the game, early in the second half, ignited a six-goal run by the Gulls that erased a 9-5 halftime deficit, and her third goal of the game, during that surge, gave the Gulls the 10-9 lead which they never relinquished She also added a ground ball, three draw controls and caused three turnovers in the victory.

St. Mary’s freshman midfielder LAURIANN PARKER (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) was named the CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after after contributing nine goals and four assists (13 points) in a pair of conference victories that lifted the Seahawks into the No. 3 seed for the 2010 CAC playoffs. Parker had two goals and two assists in a three-goal midweek win at Marymount, then exploded for seven goals and two helpers, along with four draw controls and two ground balls, in SMC’s triumph over 17th-ranked Stevenson. Parker nine points equaled 69% of SMC’s offense against Stevenson.

Salisbury junior attacker TRISH DiGIROLOMO (Davidsonville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) was named the CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after registering nine points in a pair of CAC wins this week. After distributing three assists in a mid-week win over Wesley, DiGirolomo scored three goals and added three assists in Saturday’s 14-10 win at 18th-ranked Stevenson. She has 11 goals and ranks second on the team with 24 assists for the top-ranked Sea Gulls.

Mary Washington sophomore attack CATHERINE KENNEDY (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) was named the CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after registering nine goals and three assists in two CAC victories, including a showdown against 19th-ranked Stevenson. Kennedy started the week with goal scores and three helpers against Marymount, then led the 20th-ranked Eagles past the Mustangs with five goals and an assist, raising her season totals to 40 goals and 10 assists in just eight games.

Salisbury senior attack KIM CUDMORE (Bel Air, Md./Bel Air) was named the CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after contributing eight points in two wins last week, including a two-goal, four-assist performance Saturday as the second-ranked Sea Gulls downed top-ranked and defending national champion Franklin & Marshall. Cudmore also chipped in three draw controls and caused a turnover as the Gulls downed F&M during the regular season for the second year in a rwo. Including two goals in a mid-week win at Va. Wesleyan, Cudmore raised her team-leading season total to 35 points.

Salisbury freshman midfielder ROXANNE RAAB (Fallston, Md./Fallston) was named the CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after leading the Seagulls to a pair of wins. Raab scored twice and caused three turnovers and contributed a ground ball and a draw control in Friday’s CAC win at York. Two days later, Raab had five points on four goals and an assist, as well as a caused turnover, a ground ball and a draw control, in the Sea Gulls’ victory over Roanoke.

Mary Washington sophomore attack CATHERINE KENNEDY (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) was named the CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after scoring 10 goals in leading the Eagles to wins over a pair of nationally-ranked teams. UMW toppled 19th-ranked Roanoke as Kennedy found the back of the net five times and dished out one helper. She followed that performance with another five goals and an assist in a one-goal thriller against 16th-ranked St. John Fisher. Kennedy has scored five goals and an assist in each of UMW’s three games this season, all against ranked foes.

Stevenson senior attack LAUREN ZEGOWITZ (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) was named the CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week after scoring seven goals and three assists in victories over York and Ursinus. She had three goals, including the goal that started the game-winning rally and the goal that gave Mustangs the lead they never surrendered, as the Mustangs rallied from a two-goal deficit in the final six minutes to gain a CAC win at York. She also chipped in an assist on an insurance goal as the Mustangs handed coach Kathy Railey her 100th career victory. Zegowitz followed that with four goals and two helpers against Ursinus.

York freshman midfielder KIMBERLY WAYSON (Harwood, Md./Southern) was named the first CAC Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the 2010 season after scoring three goals, including the game-winning goal to break a 7-7 tie with 5:17 left in regulation, and adding an assist as the Spartans opened the season with an 8-7 win over Montclair State.
