Salisbury And Mary Washington Gain NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship Bids

Salisbury and Mary Washington, which played for the 2011 CAC championship, each gained bids to the 2011 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament, which begins Wednesday (5/11).

CAC regular-season and playoff champion Salisbury (16-2) will host Rowan (10-6) in a first-round contest while Mary Washington (13-7) will play at Catholic (14-3) in another first-round battle Wednesday.  Both games are re-matches of regular-season clashes.

Salisbury downed visiting Rowan 15-3 on March 16.  If the defending national champion Sea Gulls advance to Saturday's (5/14) second-round action, they'll play the winner of Wednesday's Christopher Newport at Washington and Lee battle.

Mary Washington, which advances to the NCAA tournament for the ninth time in program history, and the fifth time in the last six years, fell by a 12-8 margin to visiting CUA during the regular season.  The winner of the UMW at CUA game will meet the winner of Wednesday's Gwynedd-Mercy at TCNJ contest in Saturday's second round.
