Top-ranked and CAC champion Salisbury is the top seed in the 31-team national championship tournament, but the Gulls will be joined by 10th-ranked York and 11th-ranked Mary Washington in the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championships.

The 19-0 Sea Gulls drew the only bye in the tournament and will host a sectional championship tournament Saturday (5/12) and Sunday (5/13) against the winner of a first-round clash between Fredonia State (14-4) and St. John Fisher (13-4) at Fredonia, N.Y.

York (14-4), in just its seventh varsity season, placed second in the CAC regular season and advanced to the CAC title game for the first time in team history.  The Spartans will play a first-round game Wednesday (5/9) at Montclair State's Sprague Field, beginning at 3 p.m.   Host Montclair State enters the game with a 13-5 overall record.  If the Spartans win, they'll play the winner of a Norwich (13-1) vs. Middlebury (13-4) first-round game on Saturday (5/12).

Mary Washington (13-4), ranked 11th nationally after finishing third in the CAC regular season, gained a home game in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against local rival Washington & Lee (14-4).  UMW defeated W&L during the regular season by a 13-5 margin at Lexington, Va.  If the Eagles advance, they'll face the winner of a first-round game between Castleton State (12-6) and Cortland State (17-1) in a second-round game on Saturday, May 12.
