The IWLCA held its All-American banquet Saturday night and the goalkeeper with the lowest goals-against average across any level of women's lacrosse, Salisbury University sophomore Ashton Wheatley, was named the C. Markland Kelly Division III Goalie of the Year. This is the second time a Salisbury goalie has been named and the sixth player in program history to be named the top player at their position.

The Cambridge, Md., native led the nation with a 5.75 goals-against average - more than half a goal lower than the second-ranked goalie across the women's lacrosse landscape.

Wheatley was the last line of defense for the nation's top-ranked scoring defense, which allowed only 5.00 goals per game – 1.35 goals per game lower than second-ranked team in that category, The College of New Jersey. She stopped 114 shots this season for a .525 save percentage, good for 11th in the nation. The athletic goalie also collected 41 ground balls and caused 18 turnovers.

After the 2009 season, Sonja Stuart was named the first Goalie of the Year in program history. Sarah McKinley was the most recent Sea Gull to be named Player of the Year for her position, as she was named Defender of the Year after the 2010 campaign.
