Salisbury And York Run Away Early For NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament First Round Victories
Senior Leah Schultz found the back of the net five times and York endured a halftime lightning delay that lasted several hours to gain a 13-6 victory over Washington & Lee in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament. Salisbury didn't need to wait as long as the second-ranked Gulls topped Cabrini by a 21-1 margin.
The York College women's lacrosse team won their first-ever NCAA Tournament game on Wednesday afternoon in York. The 13-6 win over Washington & Lee didn't come easy as the Spartans had to wait through a three hour and five minute weather delay to earn the victory at Kinsley Field. The Spartans improve to 14-4 overall as they advance to the Sweet 16 on Saturday. The Generals have their final campaign come to a close at 10-10.
The No. 2 Salisbury University women's lacrosse team looked like a team on a mission, dispatching Cabrini College from the Division III tournament with a 21-1 first round win Wednesday evening.
