Eighteen From CAC Named to IWLCA All-Region Women's Lacrosse Teams

A total of 18 CAC women's lacrosse players earned All-Region accolades from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, announced Monday. 

The CAC dominated the Chesapeake All-Region Team, totaling 14 of the 32 selections on the first and second teams. Salisbury led the way with six all-region picks, followed by Christopher Newport and Mary Washington with three apiece, and St. Mary's with two.

On the Metro team, York placed four on the first team, tying Salisbury for the most first-team selections in the conference. 

For Salisbury, senior Ashton Wheatley and juniors Bethany BaerShelby Nemecek and Laura Maskell were selected as first-team recipients, while seniors Shannon Carta and Meghan Toomey made their way onto the second team. 

A quartet of York players earned first team honors in the Metro region. Seniors Erica Mulford and Ashley Smith, junior Sarah Castle and sophomore Meghan Strauch landed on the first team for the Spartans. 

Two from Mary Washington - CAC Player of the Year senior Jenna Petrucelli and junior Emily Atkinson - earned first team recognition, while freshman Emily Mott made her way onto the second team. 

Christopher Newport also landed two players on the first team and one on the second. CAC Rookie of the Year Meaghan Galvin and senior Ashton Marshall grabbed first team honors, with senior Emily Johnson landing on the second team. 

St. Mary's picked up a pair of second team all-stars - sophomore Shelby Newman and Brynn Miller.
