The Salisbury University women's lacrosse team led the Lacrosse Magazine All-Americans with three players honored, the publication recently announced. Senior Ashton Wheatley, and juniors Bethany Baer and Laura Maskell were recognized for their play during the 2014 season.

Wheatley ranked as one of the top goalies in the nation and was the anchor for the Salisbury defense. The Cambridge, Md., native finished second in the nation with a 5.85 goals-against average and stopped 51.4 shots sent her way, good for 15th in the nation. Wheatley finished second on the team with 37 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers, sixth most on the squad.

Baer continued her excellent two-way play during the 2014 season. The midfielder finished with 61 points, good for third-most on the team. The Westminster, Md., native found the back of the net 48 times, which was second highest total on the team. Baer led the team in draw controls and ground balls, with 61 and 41, respectively. She finished second on the team with 26 caused turnovers.

Maskell routinely found the ball in her stick, whether it was off a draw control or during play. She picked up 49 draw controls, good for second on the team. The Ellicott City, Md., native finished third on the team with 34 ground balls and caused 20 turnovers. Maskell and the Salisbury defense ended the year as the fifth-best scoring defense in the nation, allowing 5.92 goals per game.
