Salisbury Women's Lacrosse Downs York 6-3 for 13th Straight CAC Title

The eighth-ranked Salisbury women's lacrosse team secured its 13th straight CAC Championship with a 6-3 victory over 13th-ranked York on Saturday afternoon at Sea Gull Stadium.

The Sea Gulls earn the CAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with the victory, improving to 14-3 on the year. This marks SU's 15th CAC title in the history of the program. The Spartans fall to 13-5 and must now hope for an at-large bid to NCAA's. Selections will be announced Sunday night at 9:30 p.m.

It was a back-and-forth first half between the two squads, with Salisbury jumping out to the initial lead with a tally from Hannah Young at the 21:22 mark off a feed from Bethany Baer. Sarah Castle evened things up for the Spartans three minutes later, before Baer found Gabbi Nieves at the 10:21 mark to put the Sea Gulls back on top, 2-1.

Two minutes later, Allison Kolacy tallied an unassisted goal to even things up at 2-2. Baer followed with three straight scores to put Salisbury ahead for good, including one just before halftime for a 3-2 SU edge at the break. Baer came out firing in the second half, scoring twice in the first six minutes to put the Sea Gulls ahead 5-2. Kate Haker finished off the Salisbury scoring at the 11:06 mark with an unassisted score, before Castle put in the final goal of the day for York with just over five minutes remaining.

Gianna Falcone turned away eight shots for the Sea Gulls in net to earn the win, while York's Rachel Donovan notched four saves.
