Jillian Lontz Selected to Lead Wolverines' Women's Lacrosse Program

After a nationwide search, Wesley College Athletic Director Mike Drass has announced that Wesley alumni Jillian Lontz will become the new Wolverines' Women's Lacrosse Head Coach.

She takes over a young Wesley squad that will return all but two from their 2016 roster. Wesley's four top goal-scorers during the 2016 campaign were all freshman, leaving them with a positive outlook on the future.

"We are excited to announce the hiring of Jillian Lontz as our new Women's Lacrosse Head Coach," said Athletic Director Mike Drass. "Coach Lontz is a Wesley graduate and a former Wolverine lacrosse player. She did an outstanding job at Delaware State building a program and we look forward to a bright future with Coach Lontz at the helm of our program."

Lontz graduated from Wesley in 2008 after playing four years for the Wolverines. She joins the Wolverines after four years as the Women's Lacrosse Head Coach at Delaware State University, beginning the Hornets' Women's Lacrosse program. In four seasons at the helm, Lontz built the program from the ground up, leading them to a pair of conference victories in her final two seasons.

Before her time at Delaware State, Lontz was an assistant coach for the Wolverines serving on the staff under former head coach Debbie Windett. Lontz helped lead the program to a pair of CAC victories, and 188 goals, a program record at the time.

During her playing career at Wesley, she was a keystone player on the defensive end and to this day ranks seventh in team history in caused turnovers. She was selected as the team's Most Valuable Player after her sophomore and junior campaigns, and served as a team captain as well.

Coach Lontz was excited and grateful after receiving news that she was to join her alma mater: "I want to thank Wesley College, the athletic administration and the alumni for supporting me as I take this position. I am excited to re-establish alumni connections, traditions, and culture within the Wesley Women's Lacrosse program and to get to work on building a winning tradition."
