York Sweeps Major Awards on 2017 All-CAC Women's Lacrosse Team

YORK, Pa. - The York trio of Nicole Clauter, Meghan Fox, and Jen Muston swept the major awards to lead the 2017 All-CAC women's lacrosse team. Clauter was named Player of the Year, Fox picked up Rookie of the Year honors, and Muston was selected as Coach of the Year.

Clauter, a sophomore defender, becomes the second York player to receive Player of the Year accolades, joining Karlie Dougherty (2015) as top award winners. Clauter secured All-CAC honors for the second straight year, earning first team honors after landing on the second team in 2016 as a freshman.

Fox, a freshman attack, was awarded as the top newcomer in the conference and also joined Clauter as a first-team all-star for the Spartans. She is the first-ever York player to be named Rookie of the Year.

Muston was named Coach of the Year for the third time after leading the Spartans to the CAC regular season title and a trip to the CAC championship game for the sixth time in the last seven seasons. Muston also earned Coach of the Year accolades in 2011 and 2012.

In addition to the three major award winners, York placed three others on the All-CAC squad. Freshman midfielder Regan Cook joined Clauter and Fox as first team honorees, while junior midfielder Melissa Meehling and junior goalkeeper Charlotte Wright were named to the second team. Meehling earned her second straight second-team nod.

CAC champion Salisbury secured the most all-conference honors with seven players on the 2017 all-star team. Junior attack Dana King, junior midfielder Allison Hynson, senior midfielder Gabbi Nieves, and senior defender Kieran Kelleher were each first-team selections. Nieves was the lone repeat all-star of the group, securing first team accolades for the second year in a row.

Second team honorees for the Sea Gulls included junior attack Kristen Murphy, senior defender Kayla Miller, and junior goalkeeper Gianna Falcone. Miller was a first-team all-star in 2016, while Falcone earned her third straight all-conference award after landing on the first team in 2015 and 2016. Falcone was also Rookie of the Year in 2015.

Mary Washington received six All-CAC awards, headlined by sophomore attack Mackenzie Maguire, senior midfielder Emily Mott, junior defender Kirsten Littlefield, and sophomore goalkeeper Hanna Ashby on the first team. Mott is now a four-time all-star after receiving second team accolades each of her first three seasons. Littlefield and Maguire were both repeat first-teamers, with Maguire also having earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2016.

Representing UMW on the second team were senior midfielder Sabrina Elliott and senior defender Maiah Bartlett. Elliott was a repeat second-team pick, while Bartlett nabbed her third consecutive all-star honor after landing on the first team each of the last two seasons.

Four Christopher Newport players received All-CAC honors. Senior attack Meaghan Galvin wrapped up her career as a four-time All-CAC first team honoree. Galvin was the Co-Player of the Year in 2016 and also earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2014. Along with Galvin, junior midfielder Catie Chess was named to the first team. Chess is now a three-time all-star after receiving first-team accolades in 2016 and second-team honors in 2015.

Sophomore attack Sarah Culver and senior defender Mariah Ginebra were both named to the All-CAC second team for the Captains. Culver was also a second-team pick in 2016 while Ginebra was a second-teamer in 2016 and a first-teamer in 2015.

St. Mary's was represented by a trio of players on the second team - junior attack Lacey Brown, senior midfielder Erika Kopf, and senior defender Mackenzie Rayburn. Rayburn also earned second team honors last spring.

Marymount juniors Abby Wescott and Liah Agouras were repeat second-team all-stars for the Saints, while Frostburg State freshman Nikki Hallikas represented the Bobcats on the All-CAC first team.
