Three CAC Women's Lacrosse Teams Headed to NCAA Tournament for Fifth Time in Conference History

Three Capital Athletic Conference women's lacrosse teams have qualified for the NCAA Tournament, marking the fifth time in conference history that at least three teams will represent the CAC in the national postseason tournament. 

CAC champion Salisbury secured the conference's automatic bid, while York and Mary Washington earned at-large bids into the 40-team field.  

Previous seasons in which at least three CAC teams advanced to the NCAA's include 2016 (four teams), 2012, 2013, and 2001. 

The NCAA Tournament will begin on Saturday, May 13 with eight first-round matchups across Division III. 

Salisbury (13-5), which downed York 7-2 in the CAC title game for its 15th consecutive conference championship, will face off against Regis (Mass.) (15-4) in the first round. The game will be played in Clinton, N.Y., with the winner to meet Hamilton (12-5) in Sunday's second round. 

After winning the CAC regular season and advancing to the championship game, York (14-3) earned an at-large bid for the sixth straight season. The Spartans will host the winner of Saturday's first-round matchup between St. John Fisher (14-4) and Morrisville State (13-5) in Sunday's second round. 

Mary Washington (14-5) secured an at-large bid for the second-straight year and will meet Meredith (17-1) on Saturday in Lexington, Va. The winner will take on Washington & Lee (16-1) in the second round.
