Salisbury Tops Mary Washington 12-7, Claims 16th Consecutive CAC Women's Lacrosse Title

Top-seeded Salisbury defeated third-seeded Mary Washington 12-7 to claim its 16th CAC women's lacrosse title in a row on Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium in Salisbury, Md.

The victory marks the 18th overall CAC crown for the Sea Gulls (18-1), who earn the CAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Eagles (15-4) must now wait for NCAA selections to be announced on Sunday, May 6 at 10 p.m. in hopes of receiving an at-large bid to the postseason.

The game was back-and-forth for much of the first half with five ties and three lead changes that eventually resulted in a 5-5 halftime deadlock. Mary Washington took a 6-5 lead early in the second half, but the Sea Gulls reeled off five straight scores over a 12-minute span en route to the victory.

Krissy Murphy (3g 2a), Courtney Fegan (4g) and Allie Hyson (3g) led the SU attack, while Kristen Kunaniec scored three times for the Eagles in the defeat.
