FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Salisbury seniors Dana King and Gianna Falcone swept the CAC Women's Lacrosse weekly awards for March 12, 2018.  

Offensive Player of the Week

Salisbury senior Dana King was tabbed as the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after totaling nine goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the fifth-ranked Sea Gulls. King scored six times to lift the Sea Gulls to a 13-10 win over Rowan. She followed that up with a three-goal one-assist performance in a 16-4 victory against Washington College. King was a perfect 3-of-3 on free position shots in the two games and posting a 75% shooting percentage. 

 

Defensive Player of the Week

Salisbury senior goalkeeper Gianna Falcone earned CAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades after posting a save percentage of 65.4% and goals against average of 6.74 in a 2-0 week. Falcone made 17 saves while allowing just nine goals in over 80 minutes of action between the pipes in wins over Rowan and Washington College.

Four CAC women's lacrosse teams are ranked in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) national rankings - Salisbury is No. 5, Mary Washington is No. 6, York is No. 9 and St. Mary's is No. 25 ... Christopher Newport fell to No. 10 Washington & Lee 11-4 and defeated Meredith 16-15 last week. Sarah Culver led the Captains with six goals, eight points, and eight draw controls. Culver helped CNU overcome a five-goal halftime deficit against Meredith, as she posted six goals and an assist during the 16-15 win over the Avenging Angels. She also collected the 100th goal of her career, becoming the 13th Captain to reach that mark ... Frostburg State junior Morgan Cavey scored four goals and handed out to assists for the Bobcats in a 19-13 loss to Bridgewater ... Mary Washington senior Holly Hudson led the seventh-ranked Eagles to wins, as they improved to 7-0 on the season. She scored three goals and added three assists as the Eagles topped Roanoke, 16-7, on Friday. She added one goal and one assist in a 19-2 win at Southern Virginia on Saturday. For the week, she scored four goals on five shots, and added four assists ... Marymount senior Abby Wescott continued her point-heavy start to her senior season, adding 12 more points for the week, including nine against Penn State Abington where she put away two goals and sent out seven assists. She leads the CAC in assists and points with 21 and 37, respectively, and ranks third in the nation in assists, and fifth in the country in points ... Southern Virginia's Lauren Thatcher was one of three players with three goals against Ferrum, and one of two to score again against UMW ... Wesley junior Fallon Fore netted six goals along with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers in a10-8 win over Notre Dame (Md.) ... York fell to 18th-ranked Messiah 12-11 on Friday. Sophomore Devin Hursey tallied five points on three goals and two assists, while junior Nicole Clauter led the defense with seven draw controls, three caused turnovers and a ground ball. For the year, Hursey leads the Spartans with 11 points on six goals and five assists while Clauter leads the team with 13 draw controls, six ground balls and six caused turnovers in three games for the Spartans.
