Marymount Women's Lacrosse Knocked Out in ECAC Semifinals by Stockton

The Marymount women's lacrosse season came to a close on Saturday afternoon in the semifinals of the ECAC DIII Championship, falling behind in the second half for a 17-10 decision against host Stockton.

Marymount finishes the year with a 10-10 record, a trip to the CAC postseason, and advanced to the ECAC semifinals for the third-straight year.

This year's semifinal had the Saints putting away the first goal on a Kelly Campbell finish. However, Stockton followed with four-straight for the 4-1 lead less than 10 minutes in.

Marymount cut the deficit to one after junior Bridgette Stacom found junior Jessica Crew for her first of four goals of the game and senior Abby Wescott came up with one of her most prolific goals of her career. Playing tight defense on the Osprey goalkeeper, Wescott forced a turnover on the pass, scooping the loose ball and sending it into an empty net for her 300th career point.

Although SU stopped the Saint run, Marymount added two more to draw the score even for the first time at 5-5. The goals were put away by Crew and Campbell, each their second of the contest.

Trading goals including a finish by junior Gabby Albig, the Ospreys caught momentum that carried into the second half with four-straight goals to take a 10-6 advantage that wouldn't falter the rest of the way.

In the final 30 minutes, Stockton outscored the Saints, 8-4, using another stretch, this time five-goals straight, to separate itself and take the victory. In the closing eight minutes, Crew and Campbell scored a free-position goal each to get within six before Stockton put away the final goal of the game.

Even though the Saints fell, more milestones were reached beyond Wescott's 300th career point. Crew's four goals moved her into the top spot in program history in career goals with 162.
