CAC Earns Three Spots in NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament Field

For the sixth time in conference history, three Capital Athletic Conference women's lacrosse teams have qualified for the NCAA Tournament. Salisbury, Mary Washington and York will represent the CAC in the 42-team NCAA postseason field, beginning next weekend. 

Previous seasons in which at least three CAC teams advanced to the NCAA's include 2017, 2016 (four teams), 2013, 2012, and 2001. 

Salisbury (18-1), which secured the CAC's automatic bid with a 12-7 triumph over Mary Washington in the championship game, earned a first-round bye and will host the winner of Saturday's first-round matchup between Merchant Marine (14-2) and Meredith (15-4) on Sunday. 

Mary Washington (16-4) earned an at-large bid and will host Mount Union (17-0) in the second round on Sunday at the Battleground. 

York (13-4) also received an at-large spot in the field and will host a second-round matchup on Sunday. The Spartans will meet the winner of Saturday's game between Washington & Lee (14-4) and Cabrini (12-7). 

Ten first-round games will be conducted Saturday, May 12 with the winners advancing to the second round.  Sixteen second-round games will be conducted on Sunday, May 13 with the winners advancing to one of four regional sites Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20. 

Winners of the four regionals will advance to the semifinals and final, which take place Saturday and Sunday, May 26-27 at Kerr Stadium in Salem, Virginia.  The Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the City of Salem will serve as hosts for the championship.
