FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- York junior Devin Hursey & senior Abby Smith swept CAC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week honors for April 8, 2019.

York junior All-American Devin Hursey had a fantastic week in leading the Green and White to a pair of wins. Hursey started with a goal and an assist along with a ground ball and a caused turnover in the 12-9 win over #10 Catholic University on Wednesday. Hursey followed that with seven points on five goals and two assists in the CAC win over St. Mary's. She was 2-for-2 in free position shots while Hursey also had two ground balls and a draw control. For the week, Hursey had nine points on six goals and there assists along with three ground balls, a draw control and a caused turnover.

York senior goalie Abby Smith had a strong week in leading the Spartans to a 2-0 week. On Wednesday, Smith recorded nine saves in the 12-9 win over #10 Catholic University. She followed that up with a career-high 15 saves in the 16-7 CAC win over St. Mary's. Smith notched 10 second half saves as she allowed just two goals in the second half. For the week, Smith recorded 24 saves and a save percentage of 60%.

Salisbury's Alexis Strobel tallied seven points in No. 4 Salisbury's 22-3 win over Frostburg State University. She tied a career high with six assists in the game while adding one goal on her only shot in the game...Salisbury's Kate Lamberti caused two turnovers and came up with two ground balls in No. 4 Salisbury's 22-3 win over Frostburg State University. She was part of a defensive effort that helped keep an opponent to single digits for the seventh time in the past eight games....Frostburg State's Morgan Cavey finished Frostburg's two-game week with four points behind three goals...Christopher Newport's Sarah Culver led the Captains with eight goals during the week, including five in a victory over Southern Virginia on Tuesday. Four days later, she came back with a record-setting effort at No. 5 Mary Washington on Saturday. Against the Eagles, she posted her seventh hat-trick of the season. Along the way, she registered a pair of eight-meter strikes, which bumped her career total to 57 free-position goals. That established a new program standard, breaking the old mark of 55 set by former teammate Meaghan Galvin from 2014-17...St. Mary's Ali Collie led the Seahawks with three points off of three goals in a loss at York on Saturday (Apr. 6). Additionally, Collie collected one ground ball and caused one turnover...St. Mary's Stephanie Heffron collected two ground balls, two draw controls, and caused one turnover in a loss at York on Saturday (Apr. 6)....Mary Washington's Rylie Cole's defensive play this weekend Saturday against CNU led the fifth ranked Eagles to an 18-7 victory. She grabbed three ground balls, forced four turnovers, and captured a draw control as the Eagles' defense excelled against the Captains… Senior Mackenzie Maguire's all-around play led #5 Mary Washington to an 18-7 win over Christopher Newport. She scored one goal and handed out eight assists, collected four ground balls, and caused a turnover in the Eagles' victory. Her eight assists were a career high...
