Salisbury, York Victorious; CAC Women's Lacrosse Title Showdown Set

Salisbury & York picked up victories on Tuesday (April 30) and clinched spots in Saturday's (May 4) 2019 CAC Women's Lacrosse Championship match. Salisbury, the top seed, will play host to No. 2 York with the winner hoisting the league trophy along with earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Sea Gulls fell behind off the jump to the Captains before pulling away 13-6 at the break. Salisbury extended their lead in the second half and recorded a 22-11 win. The Sea Gulls were paced by Courtney Fegan's six goals and five draw controls, while Alexis Strobel added three goals and five assists on the day. CNU's Sarah Culver posted three goals and two assists in defeat.

York led Mary Washington throughout before fending off a late UMW rally as the Spartans hung on for the 12-11 victory. York took a 5-3 edge into halftime before starting the second half on a 3-0 run to lead 8-3. York then led 12-9 with 90 seconds to play before Mary Wash scored two goals in 15 seconds to cut the deficit to one but were unable to even it up.

York was led by Megahn Fox who recorded four goals and one assist, while Regan Cook tallied three scores. Claudia DiVenti registered nine draw controls in the win. The Eagles were guided by three goals and four assists from Mackenzie Maguire in defeat.

The title match will be a rematch of an epic regular season battle between Salisbury and York in which the Sea Gulls pulled out a 10-9 overtime victory on the road.

Salisbury looks to clinch its 17th consecutive CAC Women's Lacrosse Championship and 19th in program history.
