CAC Earns Three Spots in NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament Field

For the seventh time in conference history, three Capital Athletic Conference women's lacrosse teams have qualified for the NCAA Tournament. York, Salisbury and Mary Washington will represent the CAC in the 42-team NCAA postseason field, beginning next weekend. 

Previous seasons in which at least three CAC teams advanced to the NCAA's include 2018, 2017, 2016 (four teams), 2013, 2012, and 2001. 

York (15-5), which secured the CAC's automatic bid with a 13-11 triumph over Salisbury in the championship game, earned a first-round bye and will host the winner of Saturday's first-round matchup between Endicott (14-5) and Misericordia (14-5) on Sunday. 

Salisbury (16-3) also received an at-large spot in the field and will host a second-round matchup on Sunday. The Sea Gulls will meet the winner of Saturday's game between Merchant Marine (17-0) and Lebanon Valley (11-7).  

Mary Washington (15-4) earned an at-large bid and will battle Westfield State (11-9) on Saturday in the first round with the winner facing Wesleyan (14-3) on Sunday. 

Ten first-round games will be conducted Saturday, May 11 with the winners advancing to the second round. Sixteen second-round games will be conducted on Sunday, May 12 with the winners advancing to one of four regional sites Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19. Winners of the four regionals will advance to the semifinals and final, which take place Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26 at Day Field in Ashland, Virginia. Randolph-Macon College and Richmond Region Tourism will serve as hosts for the championship.
