2006 Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer All-Conference Team
ST. MARY’S CITY, MD - St. Mary’s (Md.) and York (Pa.) both placed six athletes on the 2006 All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) women’s soccer teams as released today by the conference office. Both the Seahawks and the Spartans had four players selected to the first team and two selections on the second team. Catholic University had four players total on both teams with one first team selection and three second team selections while the 2006 CAC tournament champions, Salisbury University, finished with three players total on the teams; two on the first team and one on the second team. St. Mary’s (Md.) freshman defender Sophie Esparza was chosen as the Rookie of the Year, while her teammate, sophomore midfielder Katie Klotz, was selected as the Player of the Year. After leading his team to the CAC conference title for the first time since 2000, head coach Jim Nestor of Salisbury was chosen by his peers as the 2006 CAC Coach of the Year.
