Stevenson Falls At Dickinson In ECAC South Women's Soccer Tournament
Dana Conroy had a goal and an assist, scoring the game-winner in
the 74th minute, to lead fourth-seeded Dickinson to a 2-1 victory
over fifth-seeded Stevenson Wednesday afternoon at Dickinson Park
in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Division III South Women's Soccer
Championship.
Stevenson (11-6-4) concludes its 2008 season with at least 10 wins
for the seventh time, all in the last 12 years. The Red
Devils (13-3-4) advance to the semifinals at top-seeded Frostburg
State after the Bobcats beat eighth-seeded Widener 1-0
Wednesday.
Freshman Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin), who was named the CAC
Rookie of the Year on Wednesday, scored her 22nd goal of the
season, finishing the year with a new school and CAC record.
The Mustangs' lone goal of the game came with just 31 seconds
remaining before the half to tie the game at 1-1 after Genevieve
Olson scored off an assist from Conroy in the 13th minute to give
Dickinson a 1-0 lead.
Conroy then followed with her 11th goal of the season on a header
with less than 16 minutes remaining in the second half off assists
from Sarah Casey and Courtney Anderson.
Hartmann finished the game with six saves while freshman Brittany
Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) had 10 for the Mustangs. Stevenson
was also credited with two team saves, one in each half, to keep
the deficit at one.
Dickinson outshot the Mustangs by 10 and had twice as many corner
kicks.
