Stevenson Falls At Dickinson In ECAC South Women's Soccer Tournament

Dana Conroy had a goal and an assist, scoring the game-winner in the 74th minute, to lead fourth-seeded Dickinson to a 2-1 victory over fifth-seeded Stevenson Wednesday afternoon at Dickinson Park in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Division III South Women's Soccer Championship.

Stevenson (11-6-4) concludes its 2008 season with at least 10 wins for the seventh time, all in the last 12 years.  The Red Devils (13-3-4) advance to the semifinals at top-seeded Frostburg State after the Bobcats beat eighth-seeded Widener 1-0 Wednesday.

Freshman Stephanie Eyler (Thurmont/Catoctin), who was named the CAC Rookie of the Year on Wednesday, scored her 22nd goal of the season, finishing the year with a new school and CAC record.

The Mustangs' lone goal of the game came with just 31 seconds remaining before the half to tie the game at 1-1 after Genevieve Olson scored off an assist from Conroy in the 13th minute to give Dickinson a 1-0 lead.

Conroy then followed with her 11th goal of the season on a header with less than 16 minutes remaining in the second half off assists from Sarah Casey and Courtney Anderson.

Hartmann finished the game with six saves while freshman Brittany Ross (Millersville/Severna Park) had 10 for the Mustangs. Stevenson was also credited with two team saves, one in each half, to keep the deficit at one.

Dickinson outshot the Mustangs by 10 and had twice as many corner kicks.
