York to Meet Carnegie Mellon in NCAA Women's Soccer First Round; Christopher Newport Earns At-Large Bid, Set to Face Bowdoin

CAC tournament champion York and CAC regular season champion Christopher Newport both learned their NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament paths on Monday afternoon. 

York will travel to Baltimore, Md. for a four-team NCAA Regional hosted by Johns Hopkins. The Spartans (12-4-3) are set to meet Carnegie Mellon (9-4-2), which earned an at-large berth, in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 16. The other matchup in the regional features host Johns Hopkins (18-1-1) opposite Brooklyn (15-3). 

Christopher Newport earned one of the 19 Pool C at-large bids into the 64-team field and will travel to host Montclair State for the opening rounds of competition. The Captains (14-3-2) are set to take on Bowdoin (11-3-1) in Saturday's first round, while Montclair State (18-0-1) faces Colby-Sawyer (19-3) in the other matchup in the four-team pod. 

Sixteen four-team sites will conduct first- and second-round play on the first weekend of the championship, Nov. 15-16 or 16-17. Second-round winners will advance to one of four sectional sites Nov. 22-23 or 23-24. All matches, except the semifinals and final, will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. Winners of the four sectionals will advance to the semifinals at Toyota Field in San Antonio on Dec. 6-7.
