Frostburg State Women's Soccer All-American Adria Graham Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
The past four years have certainly been memorable for Frostburg
State senior women's soccer player Adria Graham and she has
recently earned yet another prestigious accolade to add to her
collection.
Graham was one of 58 student-athletes who were recently granted an
NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. She is the 11th CAC
student-athlete to be awarded an NCAA Postgraduate scholarship and
the first from FSU since the Bobcats joined the CAC in 2010.
Each fall, 29 male and 29 female student-athletes from across
all divisions are honored with a one-time grant of $7,500 who excel
both academically and athletically and who are in their final year
of intercollegiate athletic competition. In total, the NCAA awards
174 annual grants divided evenly among the fall, winter and spring
seasons.
"Adria Graham is among the most exceptional student-athletes I've
had the pleasure of working with here at FSU or in any of my
experiences as a teacher and coach over 22 years," said Bobcat
women's soccer coach Brian Parker. "She is intelligent and
conscientious and became a leader and role-model almost immediately
in our soccer program. She has left a tremendous legacy here in FSU
women's soccer and in our conference and will no doubt be an
outstanding graduate student and professional."
Graham, an athletic training major, will graduate in May and
carries a 3.96 grade point average. Next fall, she will begin the
master of physician assistant studies program at Chatham
University. She is a two-time Capital One Academic All-American
(2012 & 2013), a 2012 NSCAA Scholar All-American, seven-time
Dean's List student and a three-time Capital Athletic Conference
All-Academic honoree.
During her four years in a Bobcat uniform, Graham helped lead
Frostburg to a 56-15-8 overall record with an NCAA Tournament
appearance in 2012 and an ECAC Tournament Championship Title in
2011.
She is the program's first and only NSCAA All-American after
garnering NCAA Division III third-team honors in 2012. Graham is a
three-time ECAC All-Star, two-time NSCAA All-South Region First
Team selection, two-time CAC Player of the Year and three-time
All-CAC honoree. She has twice been named FSU's Female Athlete of
the Year and is a two-time team MVP.
Graham, who played in every game during her four years, finished
her career third all-time in program history in both points (133)
and goals (59).
To qualify for an NCAA postgraduate scholarship, a student-athlete
must be nominated by his or her athletic department, have an
overall grade point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale) or its
equivalent, and must have performed with distinction as a member of
the varsity team in the sport in which the student-athlete was
nominated. The student-athlete also must intend to continue
academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or
part-time graduate student.
