YORK, Pa. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Victoria Perry and York senior Melanie Glessner were honored as the CAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week for Sept. 2, 2014. 

Offensive Player of the Week

Christopher Newport sophomore Victoria Perry was named the CAC Offensive Player of the Week after factoring into four of CNU's five goals last week, helping the Captains post a 1-0-1 mark on the opening weekend. Perry assisted on the Captains' goal against 11th-ranked Emory, before recording a hat trick against DeSales, her first career three-goal output. 

Defensive Player of the Week

York senior Melanie Glessner was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Spartans to the Albright Classic Tournament championship with a pair of shutouts for the weekend. Glessner began her senior year with a shutout of #23 Rowan as she made seven saves against the nationally-ranked Profs for her 21st career shutout. She followed that up with a second clean sheet against Wooster with four saves in her 90 minutes of work. She was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts in net.

Christopher Newport opened the season with a 1-1 draw against 11th-ranked Emory ... Frostburg State's Erin Worthman kicked off the season with two goals in the Bobcats' 2-0 shutout of Saint Vincent ... Anna Manser began her collegiate career with a bang, scoring three of Mary Washington's four goals in her first week, as the Eagles blanked Shenandoah and Ferrum to start the season 2-0 ... Wesley freshman Cassidy McSorley posted a team-high four points on three goals and an assist in her first collegiate game, a 10-0 win over St. Elizabeth ... York senior Melanie Glessner, senior Jenn Lindsay, sophomore Shyanne Kimbrough, and freshman Ashley Becker made the Albright College Classic All-Tournament team.
